RULES AND BY LAWS COMMITTEE MEMBERS:

 

 

My name is ---------. I lived in Florida in Pinellas County for the election of 2000. The Republican Party did everything in their power to keep the election for Bush. Al Gore should have been the 43rd President. The entire country sat by our televisions and cried when Gore conceded. Every Democrat in Florida felt as if they were invisible and non existent to our state who we felt had cheated us out of our President. There has been a deep hate born between these two parties in the past eight years. They both try to play hard ball and one up each other.

The problem today is these Florida Democrats feel as if their own party has shoved the Republicans state laws down their throats. These people feel that their loyalty to this party should count more than the broken rules that the Republican controlled government forced upon them. Floridians believe every vote cast should count. The party cannot afford to alienate 1,700,000 voters. Al Gore lost by less than 500 votes in this state. This really spells danger.

A fact not published in the media but is well known to 1,700,000 voters in Florida is that Obama ran campaign ads for 2 weeks where Clinton did not. This should disqualify him from receiving any of these delegates. Clinton did not break any of the rules.

This committee has the power to restore full citizenship to these 1,700,000 voters by seating every delegate. We are a Nation of 50 States not 48. These people have been punished with mental anguish by their own party. A party that may I remind you represented the working class, the disadvantaged, the everyday American that believed they had someone in Government that would hear their voice. In order to satisfy the citizens of this entire country you must do what is correct and not diminish the importance of their votes. If you award these delegates as a half vote these people will place the blame on the Obama camp which will defeat the purpose of uniting this party.

Michigan is another problem all together. They should be allowed to revote in August when they are having an election. Clinton has no problem with this. The Obama camp has made Americans feel as if he will not stand up for us. He would rather discredit votes by not having come to an agreement sooner. We feel he is not the one for us in part because of these tactics. Another solution would be to award all these delegates based on the polls on the day of the election primary since the problem is he removed his name from the ballot. Then the rest of the uncommitted could be split among the two candidates.

It is unfair of the party to continue to push Obama on us as the nominee. It would be a uniting gesture on the Party’s part to seat these delegates and allow the voice of all the people to be heard before any Superdelgates decide who should be the nominee. The popular vote should count when you look back at History with the Gore election. The decisions made at this hearing should truly reflect bipartisanship among two democratic candidates. The decision should be made not on the projected outcome that a lot of party and media predictors have already declared. If the truth is spoken and not suppressed then the party can unify. If the committee makes the wrong choice then I know the party will be destroyed because at a minimum 30% of 17,000,000 will vote for a Republican to show the democratic party that are voice matters.
