CITIZENS FOR MCCAIN

Citizens for McCain is an organization within the McCain campaign for people who put country before political party and support the candidate for President who has a proven record of bipartisanship.

I have worked with John McCain for many years in the U.S. Senate and know from experience that he can unite Democrats, Republicans and Independents like no one else in this country. He did it in the United States Senate and he can do it as President of the United States.

Thank you for your willingness to help me expand this new organization. Together, we will make history.

Joe Lieberman

Please go to the link below and lets help get John McCain elected!!!!!

MY LETTER FROM CITIZENS FOR MCCAIN

Thank you for joining Citizens for McCain and showing your support for the only candidate in this race with a proven record of bipartisanship. You have joined Senator Joe Lieberman, supporters of Senator Hillary Clinton, and thousands of citizens who are putting principle before party for this nation's best interests by joining this historic effort.

When he endorsed, Senator Lieberman paved a trail for Democrats and Independents to support Senator McCain, despite being a member of another political party. He did so because, as he says, "[John McCain] can unite Democrats, Republicans and Independents like no one else in this country." His endorsement exemplified the kind of change that Senators' McCain and Lieberman have been working towards for many years, a kind of change that represents true bipartisanship.

Over the weekend Senator McCain continued his effort to reach out to supporters of Senator Clinton via a tele-townhall. Several dozen supporters of Senator Clinton were able to watch the Senator's remarks live at campaign headquarters while thousands more participated over the phone. He once again talked about his experience in working in a bipartisan manner and commitment to increasing the number of women in high levels of government.

Carly Fiorina, a historic trailblazer for women in the business world and key surrogate for Senator McCain, joined him at this important event and traveled to events in Ohio and Pennsylvania to talk to other women about joining Citizens for McCain.

All of this activity and success has received significant media coverage showing the many Americans who are willing to put country before political party. But millions of independent-minded Americans have yet to make up their minds and that is why we need your help.

Please take a moment of your time to forward this email to your friends and place a follow-up phone call to ask them to join you in support of Citizens for McCain.

News Articles:

Lieberman leads new pro-McCain group
Former Democrat Joe Lieberman today launched a new bipartisan grassroots group to build support for presumptive Republican presidential nominee John McCain.
In the solicitation for "Citizens for McCain," Lieberman, now an independent US senator from Connecticut, notes that he caucuses with Democrats in the Senate and was the Democratic vice presidential nominee in 2000.
"But first and foremost, I am an American," writes Lieberman, who has been one of McCain's most active surrogates. "I have an obligation to do what I think is best for our nation regardless of political party. My love for this country and strong belief in John McCain's character, judgment, and willingness to work with leaders of both parties has convinced me to support him for President."
Besides vouching for McCain in the message, Lieberman reaches out to disaffected Democrats, particularly supporters of Hillary Clinton, quoting McCain's praise for her.
"Senator Clinton has earned great respect for her tenacity and courage," McCain said Tuesday night, just before Barack Obama made his victory speech as the presumptive Democratic nominee. "The media often overlooked how compassionately she spoke to the concerns and dreams of millions of Americans, and she deserves a lot more appreciation than she sometimes received. As the father of three daughters, I owe her a debt for inspiring millions of women to believe there is no opportunity in this great country beyond their reach. I am proud to call her my friend."

McCain Reaches Across the Aisle in Virtual Town Hall
"Sen. John McCain held a novel, virtual town hall meeting Saturday afternoon that his campaign said was aimed at letting Democrats and independents ask McCain questions over a conference call.

For an hour, McCain fielded questions from a supportive group of people. Several called McCain their hero and said they planned to vote for him despite having supported Sen. Hillary Clinton in the primary.

'I'm a Democrat,' said one woman. 'But we're not happy with the choice of Senator Obama. Give me a bipartisan ticket...give me something to work with to switch. I will vote Republican if you can give me a reason.'

McCain offered a litany of Democrats he has worked with in the Senate, saying 'I have consistently reached across the aisle.' And he went out of his way to praise Clinton.

'I respect and admire the campaign she ran,' he told the audience, some of which was gathered with him at his campaign headquarters, while others listened on the call. 'When Senator Clinton came to the U.S. Senate, her first efforts were devoted to working together, Republicans and Democrats.'
Bipartisanship was the word of the day for McCain, who is eager to expand beyond the Republican base in November. His campaign released a list of people who it said were Democrats -- among them, some active Clinton supporters -- and part of a group called Citizens for McCain.
For McCain, the ability to attract Democratic votes and independent ones, especially in the Rust Belt states of Ohio, Pennsylvania and Michigan, may determine whether he wins.
One woman who asked a question on the call said she was a Democrat, a former veteran and the fire chief of her city in Ohio and had decided to vote for McCain in the fall. After her comments, McCain invited himself to her town, saying that he wanted to meet her face to face.

"I'll take you anywhere you want to go," she said.

Campaign officials said about 40-50 supporters who had identified themselves as Democrats or independents were invited to a private meeting at the campaign's offices in Arlington for the town hall, which they said was also piped to 'thousands' of people on the telephone. Reporters were not allowed to ask questions, but could listen in on the call."

McCain Holds 'Virtual Town Hall,' Reaches Out to Women Voters

"I assure you, with confidence, at the end of my first term you will see a dramatic increase of women in every part of the government, in my administration," McCain said. "I look you in the eye and I promise."

Delegate's reversal stuns party: Wisconsin Democrat now publicly supports McCain

"As an avid supporter of Hillary Rodham Clinton in the Democratic primaries, Debra Bartoshevich is not alone in her frustration over Clinton's defeat.

She's not alone in refusing to support Barack Obama.

And she's not entirely alone in saying she'll vote this fall for Republican John McCain instead.
But what makes her unusual is that she holds these views as an elected delegate to the Democratic National Convention in Denver this summer.

'I'm sure people are going to be upset with me,' said Bartoshevich, a 41-year-old emergency room nurse from Waterford in Racine County, and convention delegate pledged to Clinton.

Joe Wineke, chairman of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin, reacted with disbelief when first told Friday afternoon that one of his state party delegates is now a McCain supporter.
'Not a delegate? To the national convention?' said Wineke, who was getting ready for the start of the Wisconsin state party convention Friday in Stevens Point.

'We have a Clinton national (convention) delegate who says she's voting for John McCain?' Wineke repeated, for clarification. 'I've never heard of such a thing.'

After some preliminary checking, Wineke said he assumed Bartoshevich would remain a delegate.

But Friday night, after a story about Bartoshevich appeared on the Journal Sentinel's Web site, he had apparently reconsidered. At the state Democratic Party convention, party members, including Clinton supporters, unanimously passed a resolution asking the national party not to seat Bartoshevich at the Denver convention."

Former Congressional Democrat Tim Penny Backs McCain
"'I think there are an awful lot of moderate Democrats, independent thinking Democrats who find his leadership style appealing,' said Tim Penny about John McCain.

Penny, a former DFL Congressman and the Independence Party's candidate for governor in 2002, is a national co-chair of McCain's campaign.

The McCain campaign reminded reporters earlier this week that Penny is one of several non-Republicans who are backing McCain this year. Penny said he and McCain both started in Congress in 1982. In fact, he said the two co-chaired the original porkbusters coalition in the 1980s.

'Those of us who have been in Washington know how tough it is to buck the party line or buck the party's interest groups and when you see someone like McCain that's demonstrated an ability to do that in order to get things done, in order to find that common ground, it really speaks to me," he said."

Lieberman and Jewish Democratic Donors for McCain
"...in addition to the support of Independent-Democratic Sen. Joe Lieberman, McCain has received money and backing from elite Jewish Democratic donors such as Florida developer Stephen Muss.

'Many Jewish Democrats are sensing there is such an existential threat to Israel that you have to vote for an individual who strongly supports the U.S.-Israel relationship,' Rep. Eric Cantor (R-Va.), chairman of the GOP's Jewish Victory Coalition, told The Hill.
Stephen Muss is the biggest Democratic donor and fundraiser to pledge his support for McCain and the Republican National Committee, but there are others - and Muss, who gave $80,000 to the Democratic National Committee in 2000, is expected to help bring even more.

Obama is cause for concern among US Jews for several reasons, not least of all because he attended a church for 20 years where the bulletin carried Hamas-supportive essays. He told a cheering AIPAC crowd a week ago that Jerusalem must remain undivided - and then backtracked the next day. He is famous for advocating negotiations with Iran and Syria, and told a crowd of activists last year, 'Nobody is suffering more than the Palestinian people.'"

In all, thirty prominent Democrats and Independents have announced their endorsement of John McCain:
